ABOUT THIS SEMINAR
This session offers lawyers, both in private practice and in-house, the opportunity to learn and understand more about the application of the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the key rights and obligations under it. This session is timely given that the GDPR came into force on 25 May 2018, and important as the fines under it can go up to €20 million (i.e. more than S$31 million) or 4% of annual worldwide turnover, whichever is the higher.
This session will include an overview on the applicability of the GDPR to organisations in Singapore and elsewhere in the region, and the key differences between it and Singapore’s PDPA. It will also include a panel discussion to address and discuss common misconceptions about the GDPR and to consider the practical steps lawyers may take when their client or employer is faced with a requirement to comply with the GDPR.
