Practice Area: Ethics and Professional Responsibility     Training Level: General

Duration: 59 minutes 27 seconds

About the Programme

This is a programme designed to expose newly-qualified lawyers (0 to 5 years PQE) to a range of actual scenarios where lawyers may struggle with identifying what the professional ethics issues are and how to effectively deal with them. The programme seeks to build on the ethics training that a lawyer would have received prior to admission to the Singapore Bar by focusing on the cultivation of the ability to deal with ethical challenges for which there are no clear dos and don’ts. This programme is less about imparting formal knowledge and more about equipping lawyers with an ability to draw on such formal knowledge to make sound professional decisions.

       Through this programme, participants will:

  • Identify practice situations which warrant heightened sensitivity to potential risks from an ethics and professional conduct perspective
  • Consider how to manage those risks in an appropriate manner

Speakers:

Kenneth Lim - Partner, Allen & Gledhill LLP

Lim Seng Siew - Director, OTP Law Corporation

Terence Seah - Partner, Shook Lin & Bok LLP

Thio Shen Yi, SC - Joint Managing Director, TSMP Law Corporation
